The burqa is banned in the Netherlands
The law, which was introduced in June last year, has been in place since the ban on burqa and niqab in public places in the Netherlands.
Anyone who refuses to do so will be subject to a fine of one hundred and sixty-five dollars. The new law prohibits people from wearing full masks in public buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, or public transport. The masks include some Islamic women’s burqa and niqab dresses, as well as motorcycle helmets with full masks.
It is estimated that among the 17 million Dutch people, between 100 and 400 women suffer burqa and niqab. According to foreign reports, police and security personnel have been given the right to enforce the law.
