‘Spiritual healing’ session leaves 2 dead, 18 hospitalized
A ‘spiritual healing’ session in Anuradhapura has left two people dead and 18 others hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.
The event at Horowpothana Central College grounds started last night with the participation of more than 25,000 people, who were said to be suffering from various ailments.
The condition of a man aged 78 years and a 39-year-old woman among them worsened as the ‘healing session’ was underway and were pronounced dead on admission to Horowpothana Hospital.
Fourteen of the 18 patients are receiving treatment at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, while the police are investigating the incident.
