Sajith’s manifesto is practical, Gota’s is a big lie
A public rally organized to support the presidential candidate of the New Democratic Front Sajith Premadasa took place in Dharga town (November 10). Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, ministers Rishad Bathiudeen and Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and MP Kumara Welgama addressed the meeting.
Speaking at the rally former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga noted that Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s election manifesto is a big lie. She said the manifesto includes proposals that will never be implemented. She added that during the nine years, they were in power, they did none of these, and therefore it is highly doubtful they would implement these proposals in the future. She went onto note that on the other hand, Sajith Premadasa’s election manifesto has been prepared in a very intelligent manner. She said his manifesto includes proposals that can be implemented and it was prepared by a group consisting of intellectuals, experts and veterans in various fields.
Kumaratunga noted that if the funds looted by the Rajapaksa’s from this country remained, there would be no poverty in Sri Lanka. She pointed out that there are hundreds of thousands who do not have shelter and they could have provided houses to everyone. She noted that they looted money from the general public, built houses and now live in comfort.
Member of Parliament Kumara Welgama noted that they want to save the SLFP and hand it over to the younger generation. He said that the allegations about pills that induce infertility are now missing because of the election season, however, such accusations will multiple after the elections. He noted that he has served in the SLFP for 38 years, and 25 years as a member of Parliament. He urged everyone, to not make the wrong decision because the wrong decision could result in him resting in peace.
Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne was also present at the rally.
“We could not punish the perpetrators who looted and murdered during the previous regime. Why couldn’t we punish them? We had a two-faced government. Forget about what others say. There are only two sides. The side with Gotabaya or a country without Gotabaya. You all know the state of these areas when Gotabaya and his group was in power. Today you all walk without any fear. So to ensure this era will continue, make Sajith Premadasa the President of this country. During the next five years the perpetrators who murdered and looted, all of their cases will be completed. On that day, those perpetrators will be punished. They struggled so hard to cover these cases through various deals and transactions for four years. But they cannot do this game for another five years. These cases will be heard and there will be a verdict.”
