No more stickers promoting candidates on Pvt. or Public vehicles
The Election Commission (EC) has instructed the removal of stickers promoting presidential candidates or political parties, from private or public vehicles, as it is in violation of the law.
Issuing a statement, the EC said that pasting stickers, flags depicting slogans, signs, or photographs relating to a candidate or a party is an “offense” under the Presidential Elections Act.
EC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said that the police have been instructed to conduct random search operations across the country to remove such stickers pasted on vehicles.
