Dengue spread due to rain The National Dengue Eradication Unit says that the number of dengue patients is increasing due to the South- West Monsoon rains.

Due to prevailing weather conditions due to dengue breeding sites, this was the reason for the disease. Meanwhile, Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Mawanella, Galle, Matara, and Ratnapura have been identified as districts with the highest risk of dengue fever.

The Health Ministry’s Dengue Control Unit along with health officials in these areas had conducted clean-up campaigns between June 12-14 in a bid to curb the spread of dengue.
