52,000 doctors, engineers left Sri Lanka in past decade – Patali
Megapolis minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has expressed concern over the very serious impact brain drain was having on Sri Lanka.
It is a tragedy that as many as 52,000 doctors and engineers alone had left the country in the past 10 years, he told a function at Walana in Panadura.
He called for an immediate change to the youths’ going in search of greener pastures, instead of serving their motherland.
In order to reverse this trend, innovation, modernization and latest technology should be incorporated in the nation-building process while making sure that its Buddhist heritage is nurtured and safeguarded, he added.
